The Basis of Healthy Diet

One of the most important things you can do to maintain your health is to eat a healthy, balanced diet. In reality, lifestyle choices and behaviors like eating a balanced diet and staying physically active can prevent up to 80% of early heart disease and stroke.

Good nutrition entails consuming a range of meals that provide you with the nutrients you require to stay healthy, feel good, and be active. Protein, carbs, fat, water, vitamins, and minerals are among these nutrients.

A healthy diet includes:

1. Eating Vegetables and Fruits

Vegetables and Fruits are good for your health. People who consume more vegetables and fruits as part of a balanced diet are less prone to develop chronic diseases. Vegetables supply essential nutrients for body health and development.  Examples of healthy green vegetables are: Spinach, Carrots, Broccoli, Garlic, Brussel Sprouts, Kale, Green Peas, Asparagus, Red Cabbage, Sweet Potatoes, etc.

2. Choosing whole grain foods

All grains are an important part of a balanced diet because they are good providers of complex carbohydrates and several key vitamins and minerals. Oats are one of the most nutritious whole grains available. They’re not just rich in vitamins and minerals, minerals, and fiber, but they’re also gluten-free by nature.

3. Eating protein foods

Protein is a key component of bones, muscles, joints, and skin. Protein makes up the majority of your skin and hair and protein molecule found in red blood cells transports oxygen throughout the body. This aids in the flow of nutrients to your entire body. Also, it helps your body repair and build tissue. Most importantly, about half of the protein you eat each day is used to make enzymes, which assist in digestion, as well as new cells and body chemicals.

4. Limiting highly and ultra-processed foods

Processed foods, also known as ultra-processed foods, are meals that have been altered from their natural state and contain several extra components. Important elements including vitamin supplements, minerals, and fiber are typically lost during processing, while salt and sugar are added. Examples of processed foods are: fast foods, chips, white rice, and white breads.

5. Make your choice of drink is Water

Your body gets the hydration it needs when you drink water every day — and in more ways than one. Your kidneys will function better, and your skin will radiate, and your heart will also be able to execute its job more efficiently. Energy drinks, fruit drinks, 100 percent fruit juice, soft drinks, and sweetened coffees are high in sugar and have little to no nutritional benefit. It is quite simple to consume empty calories without recognizing it, resulting in weight gain.
Even if the juice is 100 percent fruit juice, avoid it. Although fruit juice has some of the same nutrients as the fruit (vitamins and minerals), it contains more sugar and less fiber. Fruit juice should not be used as a substitute for fresh fruits.
